The Therapeutic Potential of the Journey

Gregg Braden is an American author with an interest in quantum healing and in “bridging science, spirituality and the real world”. Through him I came across a video (Quantum Healing of Tumour Through the Power of Thought & Feeling) demonstrating the power of quantum healing on a 3 inch inoperable bladder tumour in a woman in China. She had been deemed inoperable and was receiving guidance on an alternative way to heal. As well as focusing on breath, movement and nourishment, she underwent a procedure that was monitored under ultrasound guidance. 3 practitioners harnessing the energy in both her body and theirs began to chant “already healed”. Not only were they chanting the words but they were embodying the feeling of her being already healed. The tumour took less than three minutes to shrink down to eradication. This demonstrates to me both the healing energy available to us at all times and the power of the collective in achieving an outcome for an individual when the individual is unable to harness the energy for themselves.

And herein lies the true power of the therapeutic relationship. When an individual chooses a healing modality and a particular type of practitioner, they are entering into a contract with another individual to share and transfer energy. Perhaps it is not only the physical world treatment being provided such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery or even alternative world therapies such as homeopathy, acupuncture or massage, but healing also occurs through the on-going relationship between the individual and the practitioner. The healing result of frequent and regular consultations, of being heard, of conversation and of the energetic exchange experienced unknowingly during consultation. Essentially, the practitioner is holding space for the individual and empowering them to heal themselves whilst contributing their own healing energy to the equation.

This further emphasises the importance and power of the health practitioner in contributing to the wellness of the patient. What the practitioner believes and truly embodies will be transmitted. This means that if statistics indicate that a patients circumstances are dire and the practitioner believes that the chance of healing or cure or survival is dismal then this will influence the outcome. However, if beyond statistics, averages and evidence, a practitioner holds a patient with a true belief of achieving wellness, this is a powerful contributor to the healing process. Practitioners need to feel empowered to quote a hope beyond the statistic and to communicate and transfer that power to the individual. This is the most empowering treatment that can be delivered through the practitioner – patient relationship beyond any physical world modality. I have seen countless experiences where the evidence would communicate a dismal outcome but the individual would defy the odds. And in knowing the practitioner responsible for care it would not surprise me at all because I knew that practitioner did not just quote and believe the evidence but actually held that patient in a hope beyond that quoted by the evidence.

This can also be extended to describe the therapeutic potential of the journey which includes every aspect from diagnosis to “cure”. It is every appointment attended, every test and treatment completed, every individual that is met and every experience that is gained. The therapeutic potential of the journey is rich with opportunity for healing as a transmission of love and healing occurs through every interaction. The energetic shifts that are made as well as the emotional cleansing, the personal empowerment, the reflection of self and the realisations are all part of the physical world healing required to shift the body from a state of dis-ease into a state of well-ness. So despite what is thought, healing occurs from the very beginning of the treatment journey rather than just at the treatment itself. I have seen many patients transformed by the compassion and care they encountered through their treatment journey. The healing is just as much in the journey than in the modality alone.
