Cancer as a Call to Attention
There is no denying that the incidence and prevalence of cancer is increasing and has become an epidemic in today’s society. There are many logical theories to the rising numbers including the ageing population, more effective detection methods and living in an increasingly toxic environment. However, in some geographical and cultural locations, cancer does not exist, for example, the native Peruvian population and the Japanese island of Okinawa where there is a more simple and organic way to live in terms of lifestyle, diet and community. Cancer is highly prevalent in the developed “Western” world where there is a generalised culture of stress, poor nutrition and unhealthy habits. These observations have led to an alternative hypothesis to explain the rising rates.
On an individual level, cancer is a call to attention. As a manifestation of the pain-body, cancer becomes the trigger for change. It becomes the sign-post for an individual to explore the unexpressed emotions that need attention in order for the body to heal. The cancer arrives as a messenger to trigger an individual to explore their own suppressed emotions and pain-body.
It also points to where an individual is living out of alignment, in the past or the present. Whether that be remaining tolerant of a relationship, a career or a habit, cancer is an indication that something needs to change because the current environment is not healthy or conducive to life.
In this way, the perception of cancer can shift from an enemy to an ally as it points to where life needs to change in order for an individual to thrive and that their current mode of living is not sustainable.
Cancer as a Wake-up Call to Humanity
On a collective level, cancer has appeared as a wake-up call to inform us that the current way of living is not supportive to life and the way we live needs to evolve. This is particularly evident when we observe the prevalence in Western cultures which have become far removed from the traditional ways of living in terms of diet, lifestyle and environment and have become essentially carcinogenic.
Cancer is one of the ways in which human nature is attempting to wake itself up and will remain in place as long as humanity requires waking up. It will then evolve out of the human experience once this is achieved.
This is similar to the plagues experienced in biblical times or more recently to the HIV/AIDS epidemic which arrived with information necessary for the modern world to receive. It occurred at a time that human nature required a particular level of awareness with respect to pertinent issues of the time and once the lesson was communicated and the level of awareness raised, the epidemic of HIV/AIDS began to diminish. The “solution” itself may arrive in physical form such as effective medication.
Similarly, the true answer to “curing cancer” is in the awakening and the awareness on both an individual and collective level. It requires the conscious attention and evolution of the lifestyle, habits and internal environment of an individual as well as the collective change in humanity to foster a healthier lifestyle that is conducive to thriving rather than surviving.
